Ama Earring

This will be shipped to you directly from Brigitta in United Kingdom

This product is handmade to order so please allow 1-3 weeks for your order to be sent out to you.

A single earring made up of a shell fragment, cast in sterling silver and plated in 24k gold, with a large baroque pearl seamlessly attached. Measuring 17mm by 45mm.

The collection is inspired by the ancient tradition of Ama Pearl Divers in Japan. Ama, means ‘woman of the sea’ and is recorded as early as AD 750 in the oldest Japanese anthology of poetry, the Man’yoshu. The fascination with these incredible women inspired 17 pieces of jewellery which honour their culture and environment, taking inspiration from their natural as well as man-made world. These organic pieces in the collection represent their innate and beautiful connection to their surroundings and natural environment.
