The Brand:

AK Threads

Antakarana Threads: ancient sanskrit for conciousness.

Built upon a philosophy of slow, considered living and commitment to sustainability, AK Threads aligns traditional artisanal practices with modern designs to create essential wardrobe pieces, accessible for all women.

Established by Gracie Laine whilst in Jodhpur, India, working alongside rural artisans and women’s co-operatives. She witnessed the inequality and adversity females faced daily, however through training women in garment construction, she was able to see the tangible impact that empowering work had on them and their communities. It opened her eyes to how vital clothing manufacture can be to job creation, as well as social, economic and gender equity. It was there that she launched the first collection, with the ambition of a creating positive impact through design.
